We are the people of the First United Methodist Church Open Minds, Open Hearts, Open Doors!

If you'd like to find your place in our congregation, please join us this Sunday, or call us at 860-489-8084 or visit the Contact page and we will be happy to answer all of your questions.

Who We Are

We are a welcoming congregation.  We emphasize love and invitation, not condemnation and exclusion.  In today's busy world, people and families have little time to spare.  We make it easy to participate in many forms of ministry offered at First United Methodist.

We are a growing congregation.  We are growing.  Not just in members, but in spiritual relationships with God.  In the anxious times in which we live, we strive for spirituality that overcomes fear and prejudice.  We strive to walk closer with Jesus, who promises us life abundant.

We are a knowing congregation.  Faith is more than believing in a set of rules.  It is a surrender to God's unconditional love and forgiveness, knowing that His love will surround us and make us whole.  Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In all ways, acknowledge  Him, and He will always make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

We are a giving congregation.  Faith and action go hand in hand.  We don't just preach about Christian values and life.  We go forth each Sunday and live it.   With integrity and conviction, we face each week anew loving service to God's world.
